Chris Rosas has devoted his career to representing oil and gas producers, pipelines and royalty owners on complex litigation, transactional and property tax matters. He understands that oil and gas litigation requires an understanding of both the complex contractual agreements governing the exploration and production of oil and gas, and a keen insight into how courts will interpret and enforce those agreements. This is an understanding that Chris has gained over the course of his career during his representation of his clients in Texas, Colorado Wyoming and North Dakota.
Chris’ experience in complex commercial litigation matters has included disputes involving property tax protest and appeals, upstream energy contracts, purchase and sale agreements, lease terminations, fraud and misrepresentation claims, trespass actions, defense of personal injury claims, employment disputes, partnership and shareholder disputes and probate claims.
His transactional representation of his clients involves issues dealing with purchase and sales of producing properties, mergers and acquisitions, oil and gas leases, joint operating agreements, farmouts, participation and exploration agreements, actions for accountings of joint interest billings, master service agreements, removal and appointment of operators, surface damage and access claims, title issues and disputes, mineral liens, royalty calculation and disputes, confidentiality agreements and enforcement or termination of mutual interest agreements.
Chris grew up in Caldwell, Texas on a ranch which has been in his family since the late 1800’s. While attending Texas A&M University he served in the U.S. Army Reserve and interned for Judge Steve Smith, 361st District Court, Brazos County, Texas. While in the U.S. Army Reserve, Chris was awarded an Army Commendation medal for his actions in the line of duty. After Texas A&M, Chris found a love for climbing in Colorado, eventually leading to a solo ascent of Mount Bierstadt (14,065) in the winter. Chris now lives in and loves the Hill Country where he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids raising goats, chickens and homesteading.
